The Bucket List
(Living Life Intentionally)
The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who’s going to stop me. Ayn Rand
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about my life and if I am really living the way God intended me to live. Am I seeing things the way He would want me to see them or am I letting regret and disappointment fill my thoughts throughout the day? Am I thinking about every mistake I have made or have I instead, learned from those mistakes? Am I pressing on with the goal of doing better in the future?
I decided that I’m not going to wait until I meet that perfect person, or have enough money or whatever limitation I put on myself, to live life to the fullest. That doesn’t mean a reckless life of partying or crazy wild nights drinking until the sun comes up. No, for me that means making a bucket list. I don’t need to be sick, or dying of a fatal disease to make a bucket list. Why should I wait to live until I am dying? Joyce Meyer once spoke about buying the shoes and eating the cookie if she wanted too. I like the way she thinks!
I found a great quote by an author unknown: Goals that are not written down are just wishes.
That is so true! I’m tired of wishing my life away. So who wants to join me in creating their own bucket list? Who wants to really search their heart for the desires that are screaming to get out and be done! What harm is there in writing those desires down on a piece of paper? Who’s gonna stop you?? Not me!
A bucket list doesn’t have to be compromised of expensive or daring things. It could include something as simple as being on the beach when the sun rises in the morning or spending one whole day in bed reading a book eating bon bon’s!
I would love to get your feed-back. Tell me a few of the things you are going to write down and DO IT. Live your life intentionally. Don’t let life just take you where it wants to, like waves on the ocean..get in the boat and direct it to where you want to go!
Here are a few of mine:
1. Get a passport
2. A silver convertible (I’m tired of the “mom” cars)
3. Spend a month in Tuscany
4. Go to the beach at least once this summer
These are just a few, but I am going into it determined that if I fail at anything on my list, I will move onto the next thing until I can come back and try it again. Failing is not an option. I already picked up my application for my passport and made an appointment to have it processed. It just took little tiny steps to make that happen but I am so excited that I am close to checking off one of my goals from the list already.
Grab your bucket and come take a ride with me in my silver convertible. We will have lots of fun when we get to Tuscany!
